More than 10,000 Attend 42nd Design Automation Conference in Anaheim
BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 2005--The 42nd Design Automation Conference (DAC) filled the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California June 13 to 17 as the EDA industry gathered on the exhibit floor and in conference rooms to share the latest design advancements and business strategies. There were 5,505 general conference and exhibit attendees and another 4,689 event participants made up of representatives from the 240 companies exhibiting along with guests and visitors.
"DAC draws the world's best and brightest designers, researchers, engineers and top-level executives from industry and academia," said William Joyner, 42nd DAC general chair. "This year's strong attendance, and the level of research presented and technology demonstrated, confirms the vitality of this industry which is so important to the global technology market."
On Tuesday, June 14, more than 2,000 people gathered for the 42nd DAC opening session and keynote address given by Dr. Bernard Meyerson titled, "How Does One Define 'Technology' Now That Classical Scaling Is Dead (and Has Been for Years)?"
Management Day @ DAC was also very popular with attendees this year with more than 1,000 attending the CEO panel, one of the conference's anticipated highlights. This year the panel was moderated by Jay Vleeschhouwer of Merrill Lynch, and featured CEOs of the three major EDA vendors - Michael J. Fister, CEO, Cadence Design Systems; Walden Rhines, CEO, Mentor Graphics; and Aart De Geus, CEO, Synopsys - along with peers from IP and manufacturing; Warren East, CEO, ARM Ltd. and Jackson Hu, CEO, UMC.
During the conference, more than 200 technical presentations were made covering a broad range of topics, including several key focus areas of design-for-manufacture (DFM), power management, verification methodology and a special Wireless Wednesday.
Video-on-demand recordings of this year's keynote presentations and 15 other key 42nd DAC sessions are available on the DAC Web site, free of charge, as a service to the DAC community.
The 43rd DAC will be held July 24 - 28, 2006, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
